We have a luxury apartment let to a university professional. 5 months into the AST of 6 months he emailed to say he had quit, left his uni post and will not give his new address; onlt contact by email.
His monthly rent is 2 days overdueand his AST provides for 2 months notice. We hold a bond equal to 1 month's rent and on inspection hw has left the unfurnished flat clean and tidy. He has not returned all keys.
We shall have great difficulty in letting this side of Christmas and shall try to insist on the 2 month's rent. How do I find where he is living to send recorded delivery letters and at the end of the day for the Small Claims Court to serve him papers if we go along that route? I have emailed him to insist he abides by the contract but also that I shall release him should I find a new tenant to start before the end of his notice period. Anyone any thoughts or experience? |
