Hi can anyone help me.

my letting agent seems to have disappeared with rent and deposit of 3 months. I am considering taking him to the small claims court to retrieve my money but this doesnt help the tenants which are now my tentants retrive deposit.

Does anyone know of another way?

Hi Rhiannon

Sorry to hear about that agent.

Are they members of a professional body like NALS? If so then they may (MUST in the case of NALS) have client money protection insurance.

If they don't and the tenancies started on or before 5th April this year then you are responsible for returning the deposits.

I hate to say it but if the agent has disappeared with the money then the chances of recovery are slim.

If I can be of any further help, please feel free to email me.
